Woke up today to 18 degrees F outside. Ouch, too cold to sit outside, I guess it’s another from-the-car activation today.
I don’t think I’d ever been to Great Falls park, even though I’ve seen it many, many times from the C&O Canal National Park across the river. I’ve been missing out! Lots of trails, great views of the Potomac, segments of a historical canal, and a great POTA site.
Same setup as my last few – IC-705, Micro PA50+ amp, 1/4 wave vertical whip, running about 30W on 20 meters.
There is a corner of one parking lot that’s close enough to the Potomac Heritage National Scenic Trail to activate it, making this a POTA 4-fer:
- Great Falls Park
- George Washington Memorial Parkway
- Potomac Heritage Trail National Scenic Trail
- Virginia Bird & Wildlife State Trail
